AHC started with the Grayhead project in 1999. The principals of Gray Head wanted to create a special place that was natural to the land. They saw the value of AHC designs and the historical aspects of this type of project. Our first commission was the Warming hut /Club house from an 1880 Montana log cabin at one time owned by The Von Trapp family of The Sound of Music fame. This is a 1500 square foot cabin used by the homeowners. We chose a very authentic theme for this project.

For our second project at GrayHead we were commissioned to design the equestrian center. This design was based on a circa 1860 antique Dog Trot Barn from Ohio. A master plan was produce and Phase 1 of the plan was contracted for construction. This includes a two bedroom caretakers apartment, tack room, and gentleman's pool parlor. Our third project is for one of the principals of GrayHead, the Catsman residence.

This project is based on a circa 1860's 45 x 70 antique barn and a circa 1850's log cabin. Ironically, the family that built the cabin in 1850 were land developers in Kentucky and this cabin, 150 years later, is being passed to a land developer in Telluride. Our fourth design commission is the STAM Colorado project. This residential project, co-designed with the owner and local architect John Shoup, is 9200 Sq Ft and based on a 1880's 40 x 70 antique Queen Post barn.

This five bedroom design has a 3 pad design with connecting breeze ways. It's a refined western style with Chestnut floors, vaulted great room, dining area and kitchen. There is a stone patio running along the South side of the building with a built-in hot tub and two ponds. A full caretaker apartment is also incorporated in the guest satellite.
